Clara Saraceno will use an ERC Consolidator Grant to develop new methods for adjusting air plasma composition using ultrafast lasers. This revolutionizes light generation, but also other areas.
ERC Consolidator Grant 2024
Clara Saraceno is Professor of Photonics and Ultrafast Laser Science at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
Clara Saraceno was born in Argentina in 1983. She completed a dual study program in France and received her doctorate in physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich in 2012. After her doctorate, she worked as a postdoc at ETH Zurich and the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. In 2015, she was awarded the Sofja Kovalevskaja Prize of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. In 2018, she received an ERC Starting Grant for her research on ultrafast high-power sources. She has been a full professor in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology since 2020. She is a member of the RESOLV Cluster of Excellence. She is also one of the Principal Investigators in the Collaborative Research Center/Transregio 196 “MARIE”.
