Grantee Professor Christof Paar

Professor Christof Paar, member of the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security, has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant.

Christof Paar studied at the University of Applied Sciences Cologne and the University of Siegen and then worked at the Chair for Data Transfer at the Institute for Experimental Mathematics at the University of Essen. From 1995 to 2001, he was a professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, USA.

Since 2001, he has been the holder of the Chair for Embedded Security at Ruhr University Bochum. From 2004 to 2007 and from 2010 to 2012 he was the managing director at the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security.

In his ERC Advanced Grant, he works on making the Internet of Things more secure. The project starts in 2016.
