Professor Wilhelm Hofmann has held the professorship for Social and Environmental Psychology at Ruhr University Bochum since 2019.
Wilhelm Hofmann studied Psychology and Sociology at University of Trier from 1999 to 2005, whereupon he earned his doctorate at University of Koblenz-Landau. He then worked at the Faculty for Psychology at University of Würzburg. In 2010, Hofmann relocated to work as an assistant professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He was a professor of Social and Economic Cognition at University of Cologne from 2013 to 2019. In 2019, he was appointed to Ruhr University Bochum.
His ERC project will explore how one can make ethical decisions of consumption. The project is starting in 2025.
