Key Research Area
The department bundles the RUB's successful research traditions in psychology, cognitive and neurosciences as well as analytical philosophy into a nationally unique research focus.
RUB has been successfully combining different research paradigms for some time now: psychology and cognitive neuroscience research at a comparative and systems level are systematically supplemented by philosophy and cognitive neurobiology, enabling joint research and determination of the mechanisms and architecture of the mind and mental health. In addition to the Research Center One Health at the UA Ruhr, the Bochum site of the German Center for Mental Health (DZPG) is essential for this. In addition, the new THINK research building provides a state-of-the-art research environment.
The spokesperson of the research group "Scenarios of the Past" is RUB researcher Prof. Dr. Sen Cheng.
The Ruhr-Universität with its Research and Treatment Center for Mental Health is one of the locations of the German Center for Mental Health.
The Research Center One Health Ruhr of the University Alliance Ruhr is dedicated to the fundamental mechanisms of health and disease - from the molecular level to the superordinate system.
in 2013, Prof. Dr. Onur Güntürkün, holder of the Chair of Biopsychology at Ruhr University Bochum, was awarded the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize.
