ERC Starting Grant 2016
Elisabeth de Boer, professor of Japanese Linguistics, was awarded an ERC Starting Grant.
Elisabeth de Boer studied Japanese in Leiden, Netherlands. She conducted research at the Universities of Hokkaido, Japan, and Maryland, USA. She gained her doctorate at the University of Leiden in 2005. She has worked at Ruhr University Bochum since May 2016, and is a professor for Japanese Linguistics at the research group of Japanese Language and Literature in the Faculty of East Asian Studies since February 2017.
In her ERC Starting Grant, she investigates how the Japanese language arrived in Japan and spread there. The project starts in 2016.
