Workshop for PhD Researchers and Postdocs
How do we talk about animal research, and why is it often so challenging? How can we have constructive and respectful conversations about animal research, even when opinions differ?
How do we talk about animal research, and why is it often so challenging? How can we have constructive and respectful conversations about animal research, even when opinions differ?
This workshop explores effective communication about the use of laboratory animals in research. Participants will gain an overview of key facts, including the legal framework, the purpose of animal research, the species involved, and the scale of animal use. Building on the participants' own experiences, the workshop addresses common questions and concerns, while exploring why discussions about animal experiments are often emotionally charged and difficult to navigate.
The workshop includes a focus on characterizing the conversation partner by identifying target groups, understanding their information needs, defining communication goals, and choosing appropriate strategies for the conversation. Participants will be introduced to different communication strategies and will have the opportunity to apply them in practical conversation exercises.
Organized by: Science Hub Neuroscience together with AG „Communication about animal research“
