The European Union provides financial backing for projects through its current Framework Programme Horizon 2020.
For the duration of the funding period of 2014 to 2020, the Framework Programme Horizon 2020 is one of the largest funding programmes worldwide, with a total amount of approx. 75 billion euros. The Framework Programme is made up of three pillars:

This pillar supports projects that address major societal problems.
